After Japan!?!

The dream was over as I crash landed back in North Carolina. This time something was different, I feeling I couldn't shake and although part of me stayed in Japan hoping I would be able to return to a place I loved so much. I vowed to start living my life any way I could. Find a way to do what you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life.

While hiking in the Tokusawa area of Kamikochi I met a kid who told me about the Appalachian Trail and Bill Bryson's book A Walk in the Woods. Little did I know how profound that one conversation in a remote mountainous highland in Japan would be, and the effect it would have on my life. April 10 2011.... I set out to thru hike the Appalachian Trail, a 2,181 mile foot path that stretches through 14 states, Starting in Georgia and finishing in Maine.

Fact: More than 250 three-sided shelters exist along the Trail.

Jun-Lei on the Farm

Well well well look who's back from the dead and blogging once again. So much has happened since the 2010 trip to Japan that it will take some time before the blog is caught up to date. But for now lets talk about the present day and my new adventures. WWOOF!! It stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. That's right I'm working on a farm and loving every minute of it. This time around I have a special little companion with me named Jun-Lei. Those of you that know me know how special Jun Duder is as a dog. Jun is a 13 year old Shar-Pei that I've had since she was only 6 weeks old. This is not only my first time on a farm but her's as well.
With my current move back to my home state of Pennsylvania it seems only fitting to leave you with a fact about this great state. In 1909 the first baseball stadium was built in Pittsburgh.
